11%

Here’s a list of some amazing Non-Profit organizations that I really admire.  I will dedicate 11% of my time (not sure what that works out to exactly : ) to accomplish a goal that will help raise money and awareness for one of the following NPO’s.

I’m currently trying to raise $14,000 to build a PlayPump.

PlayPumps International is a nonprofit organization that enables individuals, governments, foundations, and companies to donate PlayPump®water systems to rural African communities and schools. Donors to PlayPumps International help improve the lives of children and their families by providing easy access to clean drinking water, enhancing public health, and offering play equipment to millions across Africa.
PlayPumps International is registered both as a United States 501(c)3 organization and as an independent South African NGO, and maintains offices in both countries.

Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to establish schools, libraries, and other educational infrastructure. We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education is a lifelong gift that empowers people to ultimately improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries, and future generations.

Through the opportunities that only an education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.

witness_logo_up.jpgHuman rights abuses regularly escape international or even local attention. While violations such as slave labor and systematic violence against women continue, human rights defenders often lack the tools to bring unseen images, untold stories and seldom heard voices to the attention of key decision makers, the media and the general public.

WITNESS uses the power of visual media to expose human rights abuses. Co-founded by musician and activist Peter Gabriel in 1992, WITNESS provides local groups around the world with video equipment and training to support them to turn compelling testimony and images into powerful human stories and strategic advocacy campaigns that make a difference.

By brokering relationships with media outlets, governments, activists and the public, WITNESS ensures that a video can be used as an advocacy tool for lasting change.

kiva.gif

Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you’ve sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.

Kiva.org’s mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.
