Camp Nou

Spotted over @ Coolhunting

“Home to one of the biggest fútbol teams in the world, FC Barcelona, Camp Nou is getting a major makeover courtesy of British architects Norman Foster + Partners….” the most eye-catching part of the redesign is the multi-colored exterior and retractable roof.”

“Made of polycarbonate and glass, the exterior panels can change color and tilt, patterning the entire stadium or transforming it into a giant screen. Think of it as a macro-pixelated television. The renovation will be completed for the 2011/12 season.”

Karim Rashid

karim.jpgA couple of months ago I went and saw Karim Rashid speak here in Detroit. It was part of the Toyota Lecture series presented by CCS & CLEAR Magazine. Karim is by far one of the best speakers I have personally seen. The man does it all,.. from hotels, products, fashion, furniture, art, lighting, packaging, media, etc. (he even DJ’s) I was so focused on everything he was saying that day I unfortunately didn’t take any notes :  (  All I know is I left really inspired, enlightened and thinking that Karim is definitely from the future!  I recommend you go to Karims site and see all of the amazing work he has done. Also check out the Events section to see if he’ll be speaking in an area near you. If he is,.. do yourself a favor and GO!

Breathing Earth

breathing-earth-01.jpg

Check out this amazing project entitled Breathing Earth. It was created by Dawid Bleja (A.k.A.) Stillwater.

“This presentation displays the carbon dioxide emission levels of every country in the world, as well as their birth and death rates - all in real time. Though considerable effort has been taken to ensure that the presentation uses the most accurate and up-to-date data available, please remember that this is just a simulation. “

When you first start watching,.. you can kind of make sense of the numbers. Then after a little while it just becomes too much to comprehend. Take a look for yourself.

The Joy Of Not Being Sold Anything

In a world where >

“The average American is exposed to about 3000 advertising messages a
day, and globally corporations spend over $620 billion each year to
make their products seem desirable and to get us to buy them.”

It’s quite refreshing to see a message like the one above from ffffound.

It’s all Politics

060606_talibkweli.jpgI’m not going to get political on this site. I just wanted to share with you something really great I read last week. Talib Kweli was interviewed in a local Detroit paper (RDW) and had some great insight and inspiration into the whole political scene we’re currently in />

Regardless of how he’s categorized, the political element in Kweli’s work is hard to overlook. Even though he is quick to criticize the Bush administration, he sees voting as a rather limited instrument of social change. Read more

Chocolate Mint Water

metromint.jpegThe good people over at MetroMint want to change the way you think water should taste. In the past they have introduced us to Peppermint, Spearmint, Lemonmint and Orangemint flavored water,.. but this is by far the craziest flavor yet! I introduce you to Chocolatemint! Chocolatemint (like all the other flavors) is calorie free, has no sweeteners and no preservatives. Ingredients consist of purified water, mint and cocoa essence. This is to good to be true. My favorite flavor ice cream (Mint Chocolate Chip) + water! Drinking eight glasses a day has suddenly become easy! Keep an eye out for it in stores this Valentines day.

Room with a View

burjdubai.jpg

The picture you see here was taken from the 85th floor of the Burj Dubai. To date, it is the world’s tallest skyscraper, although it will be overtaken by the kilometer high Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir in Kuwait when it’s completed. All I know is that this picture is amazing. And so is the price tag to build it >

Cost: US$800,000,000.00
