The latest book by Seth Godin “Meatball Sundae > Is your Marketing out of Sync” is by far one of the best books on New Marketing I have read. ( i got it right when it came out,.. but have been keeping it all to myself ; ) Here is one of my favorite excerpts that I like to share with people when trying to explain why blogging (for *most* businesses) is so important.

Understanding Blogs:

Let me be superclear here: A post on a blog anywhere in the world could very well rank higher in a Google search than information on that same topic on your company’s web-site. Which means your point of view disappears, and the point of view of some blogger comes across instead.

So while you’re busy polishing your fancy new web-site with all the perfect copy telling the world who you are. (very command & control of you) People are out there having conversations about you, your brand, your service, their experiences, etc. Do you know who/where they are? Can you hear them,..? What are they saying about you? +/- I bet you’d like to know.

Be open, accessible, have conversations with them. You’ll probably learn something about your business that you didn’t even know.
