Farewell to MiLifeMiTimes

MiLifeMiTimes was a project I was involved in from the very beginning (from concept + creation + execution) and it opened a ton of doors for me. So it’s sad to see it all come to an end today. Jump to the following page to read our farewell letter and my two cents on the whole project.

To our readers, subscribers and contributors,

MiLifeMiTimes has enjoyed reshaping the conversation about Michigan, choosing to focus on the bright side of life rather than taking the doom-and-gloom approach.

Since its conception by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Cool Cities in 2006, the online publication has evolved from a monthly eNewsletter, to the user-generated site it is today.

The goal of MiLifeMiTimes was always to shift the conversation about Michigan to a positive one, and its certainly been a successful endeavor with great alternative media popping up all over including some of our favs found here.

With that, MiLifeMiTimes.com will be shutting down as of July 1, 2008. To those of you who Twitter, you can find many of the current contributors there @Brain_Gain “Tweeting” among a savvy little community always in-the-know about the latest technology, news and trends around.

We want to thank all of you for being a part of MiLifeMiTimes for the last few years and encourage you all to continue sharing “Love for the Glove” through your own blogs and other social media.

Two things.

#1 > I was really glad to see the State of Michigan (MEDC) take a chance on our Social Media proposal. It was a really exciting time for myself and Eric Cedo of BrainGain Marketing to take on such a large project  (it was our first client).  I will always be thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a fun project.

#2 > I’m upset to see the State is going to take down MiLifeMiTimes and all the great news/stories/interviews/pictures/content etc. we gathered and put together over the past year and a half. It’s really a shame. The internet is infinite and all the content could have been there forever,.. so it sucks to see all the content go away with the push of a button.

Conclusion. The State of Michigan KIND OF gets Social Media,… and at the same times DOES NOT get it. I guess it’s all about baby steps.
