Who is ATHENE?
The first time I saw a clip of Athene back in December 07′ I wasn’t sure what to think. It was definitely interesting, intriguing, and strange. I actually thought it might be a “viral marketing” campaign for World of Warcraft.
I thought this because of a panel I saw @ the PSFK conference in Los Angeles. Technology-New-Forms-of-Entertainment-Consumer-Engagement.
The Athene clips had a lot of what the panel discussed that day:
“immersive storytelling” “suspended disbelief” “community as a thread” “engagement = listening”
I will admit I was ready to write off Athene as some delusional World of Warcraft player. But I just knew there had to be more behind this character. So I jumped into the rabbit hole and discovered that it ran pretty deep.
Free Rice
FreeRice.com just may be the coolest time wasting thing you can do on-line. Except like most other time wasting activities on-line (insert how you waste time here_) FreeRice actually accomplishes two goals.
1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
Here’s how it works >
