TOMS @ Tribeca Film Festival
TOMS shoes made it’s way into the Tribeca Film Festival a couple of weeks ago with their documentary entitled For Tomorrow. Blake Mycoskie (founder) brought along a camera (& director Ken Kokin) for their first Shoe Drop in Argentina.
“…It was such an amazing week that we felt inspired to create a film and share it. The film came out better than we could have ever imagined, and we were thrilled and humbled to be accepted at one of the top film festivals in the world.
The best part of this is that so many new people will learn about TOMS and our One for One giving philosophy. This is going to put shoes on a lot of kids feet!
In keeping with the One for One model, TOMS will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every copy of the film sold. You can pre-order your copy HERE.

Who is ATHENE?
The first time I saw a clip of Athene back in December 07′ I wasn’t sure what to think. It was definitely interesting, intriguing, and strange. I actually thought it might be a “viral marketing” campaign for World of Warcraft.
I thought this because of a panel I saw @ the PSFK conference in Los Angeles. Technology-New-Forms-of-Entertainment-Consumer-Engagement.
The Athene clips had a lot of what the panel discussed that day:
“immersive storytelling” “suspended disbelief” “community as a thread” “engagement = listening”
I will admit I was ready to write off Athene as some delusional World of Warcraft player. But I just knew there had to be more behind this character. So I jumped into the rabbit hole and discovered that it ran pretty deep.
The 11th Hour
Leonardo DiCaprio e-mailed me the other day asking me to help spread the word about his new environmental flick entitled “The 11th Hour”
“With the help of over fifty of the world’s most prominent thinkers and activists, including reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, The 11th Hour documents the grave problems facing the planet’s life systems. Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans’ habitats are all addressed. However, the most powerful element of The 11th Hour is not a portrait of a planet in crisis, but an offering of hope and solutions. The film ends with a call for restorative action through reshaping human activity.”

The 11th Hour opened on August 17th in New York and Los Angeles. On the 24th it opens in other cities, and in the following weeks across the country. Go visit 11th Hour Action to find out when it will be playing in a theatre near you. While you’re there check out what steps you can start taking today to help make our planet cleaner and greener.
